Dear students:
You do not get to sneak off campus to smoke pot on Wednesday because you didn't realize Tuesday was 4/20 until today.
Love,

sharpies + southside
So this is one from earlier in the year that I thought would be a good first post:
The story:
One of my students, his parents bought him new shoes that had blue on the sides. Cause our school is ghetto fabulous, wearing blue is strictly not allowed. (Actually, green, grey white and black for your pants are they only colors the students are allowed to wear. Plain colored, no logos, no patterns). You can't even get away with teal.
So he got new shoes. And while it is problematic because mi hijo is a complete and total wannabe; really, he was clearly just excited about his new shoes, blue aside.
But regardless, the blue is blue is blue. So I had to tell him he couldn't wear them to school. He was so bummed. His face just fell. He was so visibly grumpy the whole day.
So that was Friday, that Monday he strolls in, with his pimpwalk,* in his cool new kicks.
And he has taken a sharpie to the blue portions.
He then proudly shows me his handy work and informs me that he spent "all of Saturday, the entire fucking day" sharpie-ing his new shoes.
It was kinda awesome.
*This kid is four feet of hyper beyond belief. When he talks he sounds like he's in a frenzy to explain the plot to all three godfather's at once. He also has like a turned foot from birth. Visualize if you seriously rolled your ankle all the way and then it stayed there. So for like the first 5 months at the school he walked everywhere with, well, its kinda like a pimp lean. Except that its on an eleven year old. Even when he's driving me crazy, he's alot of fun to watch.
